During Lent, Bishop Philip Egan is inviting all to join him for three online Lent Reflections on Thursdays 2nd, 9th and 16th March at 7.30 pm, each lasting about 40 minutes. In each Reflection, he will share his personal thoughts on one of the three theological virtues, (1) Faith, (2) Hope and then (3) Charity. Each Reflection will begin with a short period of prayer, based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church 1812 -1845. He will explore each virtue as a gift of God that stirs us towards personal happiness and animates our moral lives, whilst drawing on his own experiences as a priest and bishop. He will also explore the role of religion in life and the future of the Church in our Diocese and our ten-year plan You Will be My Witnesses.
Thursday 2nd March 730pm In the First Lenten Reflection, Faith, Bishop Philip shares some thoughts on how faith makes all the difference in the world. We believe in the existence of a loving God, that God is Personal, that He made us and called us to become members of His Church, and that despite the challenge of evil and suffering in the world, we can trust Him and love Him.
Thursday 9th March 730pm In the Second Lenten Reflection, Hope, Bishop Philip will reflect on the gift of hope and the role it plays in our lives, on what constitutes our true happiness as human beings and what God in His loving goodness has promised us in the future.
Thursday 16th March 730pm In the Third Lenten Reflection, Charity, Bishop Philip will share some thoughts on how God causes love in the world and how love is stronger than death. He will also reflect on love of neighbour and love of self and how this love should be put into practice in our life and in acts of service and charity of our parishes.
