Walking the Camino for CAFOD
Jo Lewry would like to thank Jim Kullander, CAFOD’s parish volunteer at St James & St William of York parish in Reading, for raising £1250 for CAFOD’s World Food Crisis Appeal by walking 500 miles of the Camino. Jim told her about his challenge…
“In September, a friend and I walked the French way of the Camino which is a 773 kilometre trek from St. Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela. The walk, which is almost 500 miles, was a very challenging but rewarding experience. Seeing the beautiful Spanish countryside, the physical challenge of walking 30k+ kilometres (8-10 hours) a day while carrying 10-12 kilos in the rucksack and meeting very lovely, interesting people along the way. My experience of walking the Camino gave me time to reflect, recommit to my faith and the other important parts of my life. My colleagues, friends, family, and church members sponsored me in support of CAFOD’s work of helping the poor suffering from the World Food crisis. I am humbled by the work CAFOD does, so it was an honour for me to fundraise to support this charity. Here is my JustGiving page if you would like to contribute or see some of my photos.
Thank you so much Jim for fundraising for CAFOD. What an amazing experience!
