Bishop Philip writes…

I have just returned from an amazing weekend in Rome where on Sunday at Mass in St. Peter’s Square, the Holy Father, Pope Leo, canonised two new saints for the Church, St. Pier Giorgio Frassati and St. Carlo Acutis. A huge crowd was present, with 300 cardinals and bishops, 2,000 priests and an estimated 80,000 people. It was a moment of real joy, enhanced by the warm Roman sunshine. The Holy Father gave a beautiful homily. You can watch parts of the Mass by clicking here. I’ll say more about the events of the weekend in later editions of e-News.

Meanwhile, welcome to this e-News for Tuesday 9th September 2025. There’s a lot of news to report this week and so some items are being saved for next time. Meanwhile, our thanks to Deacon Craig for his editing work and to all of you for submitting your news stories. If you have a good news story to tell or a diocesan event to advertise, please email Deacon Craig. Have a blessed week ahead.

In Corde Iesu
