Coronation celebrations were held across the nation over the weekend, and St Michael and All Angels, Leigh Park was no different. Over 120 members of the congregation and local community celebrated with a wonderful afternoon tea in front of the church. A team of volunteers ably led by Canon Gerard Flynn set up tables, gazebos, and place settings for all.
Traditional afternoon tea items including sandwiches, scones and cakes were prepared and consumed by the excited participants. Musical entertainment was provided by a Parishioner and some even found the motivation for a dance or two. A local face painter spent over three hours turning children into fairies, tigers, and other marvellous creations. And a customary raffle was held.
Passing members of the local community were invited to join the celebrations, one of the first major events at the church since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many had not been inside the church before. All were made welcome, and plans are now afoot to host a summer barbecue.
