Bishop Philip Egan today celebrated the annual Diocese Schools Mass at St John’s Cathedral, Portsmouth with over forty school’s attending from across the Diocese. The theme was “Making Peace with those around us”. Each school brought a banner to represent their school.
Pupils from Corpus Christi Primary School, Boscombe and Springhill Primary School, Southampton received their Faith in Action Awards. Faith in Action is a national award scheme for young people aged between 10 and 18, supported by CYMFed (Catholic Youth Ministry Federation). The scheme has been designed to be accessible, to acknowledge good works and encourage more, and to ensure that action is rooted in faith.
After the celebratory Mass, all participants went into Victoria Park across from the Cathedral and enjoyed a picnic lunch and a lolly in the sunshine.
