“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
The Bishop is inviting applications from people who feel called to use their professional expertise in the service of the Catholic Church. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the mission of Jesus Christ by giving your time and talent to the Stewardship of the Diocese, as a Trustee and member of the Diocesan Finance Council.
We have embarked on a bold and faith-filled ten-year Mission Plan, You Will be my Witnesses, focused on renewal, discipleship, and evangelisation. As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in guiding this transformation, ensuring our resources, safeguarding, and strategic decisions are aligned with our mission and pastoral priorities.
We are especially seeking individuals with experience in any of the following areas:
- Financial Investment and Asset Management – to help us steward the temporal goods of the Church with wisdom and integrity.
- Public Protection and Safeguarding – such as social work, children’s services, or probation, to help oversee and strengthen our commitment to creating a safe environment for all.
- Strategic Planning and Organisational Change – to support the delivery of our Mission Plan and ensure our structures are fit for purpose.
Who We Are Looking For
You will be a committed Catholic who:
- Is passionate about the Church’s mission and wish to serve the Lord with the skills He has given you
- Understands or is willing to learn about the responsibilities of charity trusteeship and is willing to contribute time and insight
- Can think strategically and work collaboratively with the clergy and laity who make up the board of Trustees and our subcommittees.
- Can offer a day each month to attend meetings, read briefings and undertake some training to support you in the role.
- May have skills and experience in chairing committees.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the life of the Church and help shape its future across our parishes, schools, and communities.
To arrange an informal conversation or to request an information pack, please contact: Deacon Tony Darlison Secretary to Trustees, email: tdarlison@portsmouthdiocese.org.uk
Closing date: Monday 1 September 2025
Meetings of the Board are in person held on alternate months. Subcommittee meetings that require Trustees may be held online or in person.
Expenses for travel may be reimbursed
