Bishop Philip writes…

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, when we commemorate the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions of others who were murdered under Nazi persecution. The attempt to murder all the Jews of Europe during the Second World War shook the very foundations of our civilisation. Today, as we profoundly lament the loss of these and all victims of genocide and prejudice, and pray for their repose, let us pray that people everywhere will always turn away from hatred and division, and strive to build a more just world of love and peace.

Meanwhile, welcome to this e-News for Tuesday 27th January 2026. The note about the Rite of Election reminds us that the great season of Lent begins in just three weeks’ time. So let us give some thought this week in prayer to which Lenten works of prayer, fasting and charity we wish to undertake this year. Have a blessed week ahead.

With all good wishes and an assurance of my prayers,

In Corde Iesu

+Philip
