Bishop Philip writes…
This coming Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent, I will be sending you a heartfelt Pastoral Letter about a matter of great importance for all of us in our Diocese. At Mass on Sunday, do make sure you take a copy of the Letter away with you. Ponder it at home and pray about it. Indeed, the key thing will be to offer to the Lord your earnest prayers. For those eligible, there is a QR code to scan or they can email me on bishop@portsmouthdiocese.org.uk. More at the weekend. I pray that this Letter will evoke from you a generous response.
Meanwhile, I welcome you to this edition of e-News for Tuesday 9th December 2025. We have now passed the Second Sunday of Advent with only another couple of weeks to go until Christmas. This is a precious time of preparation amidst the busyness of shopping, decorations and other preparations. Please try to get to Mass on the weekdays of this season, to pray the Angelus regularly and to avail yourself of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. May the Lord bless you, your family and your friends with many graces and gifts over the week ahead.
May God bless you, your family and friends.
In Corde Iesu
+ Philip
Bishop of Portsmouth
