Caritas at Corpus Christi
Zach Herford, Social Justice & Environment Project Officer for Caritas Diocese of Portsmouth shares news of a recent Caritas school partnership in Bournemouth…
Continuing the development of our schools work in the Bournemouth area, Caritas was able to begin a partnership with a new primary school in Boscombe. Our School Project Officer spent the day at Corpus Christi Primary on Thursday 6th October, introducing Caritas to the pupils through assemblies and workshops. The main theme of the day was engagement around the environment and the promotion of biodiversity at the school. During each workshop pupils were invited to interact with the different project and educational posters and a selection of plants. Re-iterating our concept of ‘using your voice for good’ there was the opportunity for each student to share their own ideas for projects that Caritas could do at Corpus Christi. This was further developed through a meeting of the Student Council who discussed how to make sure the whole school community is involved and understanding our common responsibility to the environment. Our School Project Officer also had the chance to attend a staff meeting and talk with the teachers about the importance of social action and how projects can move forward with their support. Caritas is excited to welcome Corpus Christi to our partnership of schools, and we are ready to begin engaging the pupils and community in environmental work on their site.
