Pope says: No Nuclear War
Last week at the General Audience, the Pope turned his thoughts to the very real threat of nuclear warfare, recalling times in which the path of peace was chosen despite the tensions. He recalled the beginning of the Second Vatican Council 60 years ago. He stressed that “we should not forget the danger of nuclear war that menaced the world right at that time”. “Why don’t we learn from history”? asked the Pope, noting that “even at that moment, there were conflicts and huge tensions, but the way of peace was chosen”.
Let us pray for peace in Ukraine and an end to the war, and not least the threat of nuclear weapons being used.
