We are pleased to announce that from 1 January 2023 our new charity name will be the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth and number 1199568.
The Portsmouth Diocesan Trust was constituted in 1934 and its Trustees were incorporated in the name Portsmouth Roman Catholic Diocesan Trustees Registered (PRCDTR). Over the years since 1934, there have been many changes in law and increased regulations in both the UK and the Channel Islands, which means that the charity model we have been working with has become complex to operate and administer.
Therefore, the Diocesan Trustees have taken legal advice and have decided that the Diocese should become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation or CIO, thus having the benefits of full charitable status.
