The Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency (CSSA) has commissioned the services of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) to review the national safeguarding policies and procedures.

As a Regulated Affiliate of the CSSA, the Diocese works in accordance with these national policies and procedures and this project has a direct impact on our safeguarding work.

To ensure that the SCIE review team, together with associated reference groups, take into consideration as many views as possible, a short survey has been devised.

Accordingly, we are seeking as many people as possible contribute to this process by completing the survey, which can be accessed here.

Completion of the survey presents an opportunity to help shape the future of safeguarding within the Catholic Church and make representations for example:

  • Where it is evident or perceived that the current policies and procedures are outdated.
  • Where it is identified that there are gaps within policies.
  • Situations that have/may have arise that are not covered by any current policy.
  • That the current policies and practice guidance are difficult to work with or interpret or other reasons.

The closing date for submissions is Thursday 31st August 2023.
