We are pleased to announce the launch at noon on Ash Wednesday of a new Diocesan website dedicated to liturgical formation called The Liturgy Project. . The website may be found directly at www.theliturgyproject.com or through this website at The Liturgy Project – Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth, (portsmouthdiocese.org.uk).

Pope Francis in his recent Apostolic Letter Desiderio Desideravi reminds all the People of God of the importance of liturgical formation. We are formed into the image and likeness of Christ by the liturgy and liturgy forms us into the image and likeness of Christ. In and through the Sacred Liturgy we encounter Christ – the fullness of life – the desire of our hearts. Formation is a lifelong project, and we always need to learn more about the liturgy, in order for it to bear more fruit in our lives.

The website includes:

  • a section for Sundays, including homily and liturgy notes.
  • Guidance from the Vatican and liturgical books.
  • A formation section on the Mass.
  • A Q&A section of some common questions that the faithful have asked about the liturgy.

Your questions about the liturgy are welcome. The website is a developing project, with more content to be added through the forthcoming months and years. So please keep checking the website for updates and all suggestions welcome.

We express our gratitude to the Director of Liturgical Formation, the Liturgical Formation Team, Contributors, and Peter’s House for their work with this project.
