Safeguarding Training

We are committed to ensuring our parishes and church communities are safe spaces for all those who use them.

A key part of that commitment is ensuring that safeguarding training is undertaken as part of the safe recruitment process.

It is a requirement of the Bishop, the Trustee Board and the Safeguarding Committee that anyone who in a role(s) working with children and/or adults at risk, or those who might otherwise be vulnerable undertake safeguarding awareness training.

The Catholic Safeguarding Standards Agency (CSSA) has developed the Learning Management System (LMS) as an online learning platform, specifically for the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

To access the LMS, you will need to self-register, providing the details of your parish, church and location.  When registering, please select the Diocese of Portsmouth under ‘Your Diocese’. Please be specific with the parish location for example, St Peters, Winchester not just St Peters.

All those registering for training on the LMS should select Portsmouth Diocese Level 3, the system will then automatically route you to the correct module.

You can access the LMS by clicking on the button below.

Refresher training requirements are now every 3 years for lay people and volunteers.

For those in roles where there is a DBS eligibility, training records will be updated automatically by the Diocesan safeguarding team.

In accordance with the national safeguarding standards, training is mandatory and must be refreshed every 3 years.
