Bishop Philip writes…

Click here for a fly-over of the Cathedral by drone. In 2032, our Cathedral church of St. John the Evangelist and our Diocese of Portsmouth will be 150 years old. There is so much to thank God for. This last Sunday we officially launched the Cathedral150 project. You can read my own reflections below with some of my hopes for what the Cathedral might be. The Cathedral is the mother church of our Diocese and a lot of repairs are now needed, plus updating. Let us keep this matter in our prayers over the months ahead.

Meanwhile, I welcome you to this edition of e-News for Tuesday 2nd December 2025. I wish you a Happy New Year! Last Sunday was the First Sunday of Advent when the Church’s new Liturgical Year began. May the Lord bless you with many graces and gifts. Have a good week ahead!

May God bless you, your family and friends.

In Corde Iesu

+ Philip

Bishop of Portsmouth
