Bishop Philip writes…

Yesterday, Monday 25th May 2026, the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV published his first Encyclical Letter. It is called Magnifica Humanitas(‘Magnificent Humanity’). It is full of helpful commentary on how in an age when artificial intelligence is really taking off, the dignity and value of human person might be safeguarded. You can read a bit more below. But click on the image above for a brief introductory video from the Cardinal Prefect of the Dicastery for Integral Human Development.

Meanwhile, welcome to e-News Issue 534 (2026/18) for Tuesday 26th May 2026. There is a lot of news to digest this week from across the Diocese: thanks to all of you for sending items in. As we pray the Novena for Life, from Pentecost to Trinity next Sunday, may the Lord bless you with His love during these holy days.

With all good wishes and an assurance of my prayers,

In Corde Iesu

+Philip

Bishop of Portsmouth
