New Vicar General
Mgr. Paul Townsend has served in many important roles in our Diocese over the years, and for these last years, he has been Vicar General and the Vicar for Clergy, leading the office of the Bishop’s Support of Clergy. In the autumn, he will be retiring from these roles. I am immensely grateful to him for his selfless service, his loyalty and his wise counsel and I hope and pray we can find a nice occasion in the autumn to mark his retirement. In his stead, I am pleased to announce that Canon David Hopgood, the parish priest of Windsor, has agreed to succeed Mgr. Paul and been appointed as Vicar General and as the Vicar for Clergy. Canon David will work alongside Mgr. Paul until September to ensure a good succession. Please pray for both of them at this time.
