On 01 November we celebrate Bamenda Sunday and our special link with Bamenda dating back to 1974.

In the early years, priests from here helped a new diocese to set down strong roots enabling it to grow and flourish. Now we welcome priests from Bamenda who serve in parishes across the diocese.

An important part of the link has been the support we have sent over the years. Your generosity has made a huge impact to the lives of many of the poorest and most vulnerable people in Bamenda, and it most sincerely appreciated by them.

Last year, your support has, amongst other things:

  • allowed thirteen-year-old Stephen to attend school. Fighting forced his family to abandon their home and flee to a safer town. Stephen’s family barely manage to survive from day to day and so could not afford to send him to school. But through the Archbishop’s Education Fund which helps children orphaned or displaced by the conflict you supported him, and 250 other children like him to attend school.
  • gave Caroline Lum, a 37-year-old single mother the ability to provide for her children. The stigma of being a single mother makes finding work hard for Caroline and other women like her. But through your help she received support to set up her own clothes-making business and so build a more secure future for her and her two children.

You can find out more about this partnership in the Bamenda newsletter.

Please donate as generously as you can – your support transforms lives.

You can donate online, set up a direct debit or standing order or by BACS (CDP Bamenda Commission. Account No: 00867633 Sort Code: 30-93-04). Please Gift Aid if you pay enough tax as this gives a further 25% with no cost to you.

Or at the Bamenda Sunday collection in your parish.

Thank you.
