Portsmouth Diocese e-News Issue 474

January 14th, 2025
Cardinal Robert McElroy

Next Monday 20th January, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States. Let us remember the peoples of America, especially those impacted by the fires in Los Angeles, and the needs of the world in our prayers. At the same, time, please remember in your prayers Cardinal Robert McElroy (pictured). He is currently the Bishop of San Diego, but last week the Holy Father has appointed him to be Archbishop of Washington, in succession to Cardinal Wilton Gregory. This will give him an important role in public affairs, reiterating the Message of the Gospel in relation to the value of life, the dignity of the human person, the role of the family, care of the environment and the promotion of social justice. Let us pray that the new President and his team will be open to receiving his witness.
