annunciation

Bishop Philip writes…

Happy Feast Day today! Today, we keep the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord: the moment when the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and She gave her consent to God’s plan, conceiving in Her womb, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the Christ-Child, the Saviour of the World. Today, the earthly life of God the Son began in the flesh. Christ was born on Christmas Day, but He was given to us as Saviour at the moment of His conception, when human life begins. Today, let us say the Angelus several times, thanking God for the gift of our salvation in Christ and also thanking Mary for Her consent to God’s plan, praying that we too will always follow the will of God in our lives.

Welcome to this week’s e-News, today Tuesday 25th March 2025. Let us continue to offer our prayers for the Holy Father who by God’s grace has now returned from hospital to the Vatican. The God-given dignity and value of human life is much in our minds today as we recall Christ’s conception in Mary’s womb. It is also much in our minds as the Assisted Dying Bill continues its progress. There is still time to act to thwart this disastrous piece of legislation – see below. Meanwhile, please accept my prayers and best wishes for you all during the days ahead – and please pray for me.

In Corde Iesu
