Training Day for CAFOD’s Young Leaders
Jo Lewry, CAFOD Portsmouth’s Community Participation Co-ordinator reports on the second Young Leaders training day which took place on Tuesday 3rd May at St Joseph College Reading…
It was fantastic to meet some of our Young Leaders in person at our second Young Leaders training day hosted by St Joseph College. Unfortunately, the first training day in January had to be on zoom so this was the first time meeting them face to face. We started the day with the Young Leaders from Farnborough Hill, Salesian College Farnborough and St Joseph College feedbacking on how their Lenten activities from last term went, what they achieved and how they would improve them. It was great to celebrate their fundraising achievements from purple days, walk against hunger challenges, cake sales and fast day lunches. Next the Young leaders focused on what inspires and motivates them to work for a fair and just world. After a lovely lunch provided by St Joseph’s they explored CAFOD’s new campaign Fix the Food System and watched this animation which explains how the food system is broken. Then they planned their activities for this term and shared their ideas with the group. It was a great day, and the enthusiasm and passion of these young people was very inspiring. Thank you to Young Leaders and staff accompaniers for coming to the training day and I look forward to hearing how your summer activities go.
