walking with the cross

Welcome 12/4/22

Welcome 12/4/22

Dear Friends,
We I welcome you to this Holy Week edition of e-News. I am very struck by something St. Basil says in today’s Office of Readings: “When mankind was estranged from him by disobedience, God our Saviour made a plan for raising us from our fall and restoring us to friendship with himself. According to this plan Christ came in the flesh, he showed us the Gospel way of life, he suffered, died on the cross, was buried and rose from the dead. He did this so that we could be saved by imitation of him, and recover our original status as sons of God by adoption. To attain holiness, then, we must not only pattern our lives on Christ’s by being gentle, humble and patient, we must also imitate him in his death.” That is the message of this Holy Week: please keep it as well as you can so as to pass-over to the renewal of Easter. I wish you – when it comes next weekend – a very Happy Easter. Please note that the next e-News will be on Tuesday 3rd May – hence the bumper edition this week! Finally, if you have any Good News stories to share from your parish, school and family, please email them to Deacon Craig, our tireless editor: executiveassistant@portsmouthdiocese.org.uk
