Katrina Strker, Headteacher of St Anthony’s Catholic. Primary School, Fareham, shares news of the school’s sporting success
Titchfield based, St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School’s dodgeball team is celebrating a remarkable sporting success after qualifying for the National Championships following an outstanding season of competition.
What began just two years ago as an after-school club has grown into one of the school’s most successful sporting initiatives. Guided by their coach, Scott, the talented team of Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils are now preparing to represent the South West at the National Dodgeball Championships in Kettering.
The team first secured success at the Hampshire County Championships in December, earning the right to represent the county at the South West Regional Championships in Bristol in June.
Their achievement is particularly significant given that dodgeball has only been established at St Anthony’s for the past two years.
Katrina Straker, Headteacher of St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, comments, “We are incredibly proud of our dodgeball team and everything they have achieved this year. To progress from an after-school club to competing at a national level is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects the dedication, teamwork and resilience shown by every member of the squad. We are delighted to see their hard work rewarded. The whole school community will be cheering them on as they travel to Kettering to represent the South West.”
